Release Notes#

We publish release notes only for new features and for significant changes to CONVERGE Horizon workflows. Routine bug fixes and other minor changes are not documented here.

October 21, 2026#

  • Applied a fix issued by PHP maintainers for the PHP2Shell security flaws.

  • Revamped the CONVERGE Horizon login page and added an option to sign in with a passkey.

  • When creating a new job on a file system, you can now click Suggest hardware to get hardware recommendations based on your case setup.

  • A new set of environment variables starting with HORIZON_ is available for jobs that run with custom commands. If you previously used the old environment variables, such as PATH_CASE and HOSTSLIST, these are no longer available. For any jobs created after this update, use the new environment variables instead.

  • A completed single-node job can now hand off its node to a job in the queue, which shortens the time it takes to provision hardware for the waiting job. This happens only if the waiting job belongs to the same team and has the same data center, node type, storage type, node count, and (if applicable) flex cores and memory as the finished job.

  • Added a Trash page for deleted files to the file system File Manager. You can turn the trash on and off in the file system settings. It is on by default for new file systems and off for existing file systems.

  • Workstations now use a new hardware-accelerated web interface for viewing the desktop in the browser. It should give a smoother, lower-latency experience.

September 29, 2026#

  • When creating a file system, you can now choose between Standard and Performance node types. The Performance type is optimized for heavy concurrent use of the file system by multiple users and/or multiple jobs. Existing file systems use the Standard node type.

  • You can now migrate an existing file system to a new file system if you need to change the data center location, change the node type, or reduce the size.

  • The maximum number of file systems per organization is now 5 instead of 10.

  • Added the BM-AMD-TURIN-192-HM node type, which is offered in the following data centers: Netherlands (Eemshaven), US Central (Council Bluffs), and US Southeast (Moncks Corner).

  • If you have not yet started a batch that was created more than 30 days ago, CONVERGE Horizon will now stop the batch automatically. This effectively cancels the batch and any jobs that have been added to it.

  • Removed the Singapore West (Jurong) data center.

September 17, 2026#

  • You can now run the CONVERGE check_inputs utility directly from the File Manager before creating a job on a file system.

  • Added the Australia East (Sydney) data center.

  • Added the BM-AMD-TURIN-192-AX node type, which is available in the following data centers: Japan East (Tokyo), UK South (London), US East (Ashburn), and US West (Phoenix).

  • Updated the CLI to version 3.0.16.

Pricing Updates#

Pricing has been updated for hardware, storage, and on-demand licensing. Hardware prices are now the same across all subscription tiers, and on-demand license prices for both bare metal nodes and virtual machines are now calculated based on your subscription tier and the number of cores allocated to your job. You can find pricing details at convergecfd.com.

Spaces Are Deprecated#

Spaces, our legacy cloud storage option, are now deprecated. You can no longer create new spaces, but existing spaces will continue to function normally.

We recommend using file systems for cloud storage instead of spaces. You can easily convert an existing space to a new file system.

If you use CONVERGE Studio to run jobs on CONVERGE Horizon, be aware that file systems are supported only in CONVERGE Studio 6.

Enhanced File System UX#

The File Manager is now integrated into the CONVERGE Horizon web interface, and it offers a host of new features to help you monitor jobs running on file systems, including a new job status panel and new options for previewing geometry files and output files.

To ensure that you get the most out of these new features, we recommend hibernating and waking your existing file systems so that they are using the most up-to-date hardware configuration.

Detailed file system changelog:

  • You can now access the File Manager directly within the CONVERGE Horizon web interface. You still have the option to log in to the File Manager in a separate tab, and multi-factor authentication is now required when you do so.

  • Added a job status panel to directories containing CONVERGE output files.

  • Added an option to clean CONVERGE output files from a directory.

  • Added a 3D viewer for geometry files.

  • Added an output viewer with live graphing capabilities.

  • Added visualization and analysis tools for 3D post files.

  • Added playback with variable frame rates for images generated by ParaView Catalyst.

  • Added an option to compile user defined functions (UDFs) on a file system.

  • It is no longer possible to disable the File Manager for a file system.

  • You can now delete file systems that are hibernating. Additionally, actions associated with billing limits are now enforced for hibernating file systems.

  • There is now a limit of 10 file systems per organization.

New Data Centers and Node Types#

We continue to update our available data centers and node types to ensure that you can access the hardware you need for your jobs. In this update, we:

  • Renamed the VM-AMD-TURIN-FLEX node type to VM-AMD-TURIN.

  • Added the VM-AMD-TURIN-AX node type. These nodes have faster memory and offer more stable performance than VM-AMD-TURIN nodes.

  • Replaced the VM-AMD-GENOA-FLEX node type with the high-availability VM-AMD node type. When you create a job with the VM-AMD node type, CONVERGE Horizon first requests a VM based on an AMD Turin processor. If no AMD Turin nodes are available, CONVERGE Horizon will request a VM based on an AMD Genoa processor.

  • Decreased the maximum number of nodes for the BM-INTEL-ICELAKE-36 node type to 25.

  • Increased the maximum number of nodes for the BM-AMD-TURIN-192 node type to 20.

  • Added the Italy North (Turin) data center, which offers the following node types: BM-AMD-GENOA-192, BM-AMD-TURIN-256, VM-AMD, and VM-AMD-TURIN.

  • Added the Netherlands Northwest (Amsterdam) data center, which offers the following node types: BM-AMD-GENOA-192, BM-AMD-TURIN-256, BM-INTEL-ICELAKE-36, VM-AMD, and VM-AMD-TURIN.

  • Added VM-AMD-TURIN nodes to the India South (Hyderabad) data center.

Cloud-Based License Servers#

You can now set up a license server on CONVERGE Horizon if you want to run simulations on your own hardware with on-demand CONVERGE licensing.

New CLI Version#

Version 3 of the CONVERGE Horizon CLI is now available. Because there are numerous breaking changes between v2 and v3, the CLI will not be updated automatically when you run horizon update -i. Instead, please download and install the CLI as described in the installation instructions.

Any scripts based on CLI v2 will need to be updated when you upgrade to CLI v3.

Other Changes#

  • Added default billing limits of $100 and $500 for all organizations. By default, no actions are taken in the system for these billing limits, but the organization owner can customize them to add enforcement actions (e.g., stopping jobs) if desired.

  • If CONVERGE Horizon is unable to provision a cluster for a job, the job is now automatically added back to the queue in most scenarios. There are still rare scenarios in which a job can fail due to cluster provisioning errors.

  • When stopping a job, you now have the option to Force stop the job while retaining the output data.

  • For multi-node jobs, you no longer specify a target number of nodes and a minimum number of nodes. You simply specify the number of nodes you want, and CONVERGE Horizon will continue requesting that number until the nodes are allocated or the Maximum Queue Time has elapsed.

  • You no longer need to provide a storage path for jobs running in Interactive mode.

  • For jobs and workstations, you now must set a Maximum Queue Time of at least 1 hour. It is no longer possible to specify a value of 0.

  • You can now delete workstations with a status of Pending or Provisioning. You will still be billed for the workstation if the status was Provisioning at the time of deletion.

  • If allowed IPs are configured for your organization, you can no longer access workstation VNC sessions from IP addresses outside of the allowed IPs.

July 23, 2026#

  • The VM-AMD-TURIN-FLEX and BM-AMD-TURIN-256 node types are now available in the South Korea Central (Seoul) data center.

  • You can now specify a Storage Size of 0 when creating a new workstation.

  • If you select the option to discard output when stopping a job running on a file system, CONVERGE Horizon now deletes all files in the Case Directory that were created after the job started. Previously, no files were deleted in this scenario.

June 25, 2026#

  • Added CONVERGE 6.0.0. CONVERGE Horizon uses the Intel MPI library for all jobs running CONVERGE 6.

  • File systems configured to auto-expand will now increase in size by 1 TB instead of doubling in size, and they will now expand when they are 70% full instead of when they are 75% full.

  • By default, CONVERGE Horizon now uses the full 36 cores per node when running jobs with the BM-INTEL-ICELAKE-36 node type. Previously, only 34 of the 36 cores were used by default.

June 16, 2026#

  • File systems are now created using ZFS, which improves storage density. We recommend replacing your existing file systems with new file systems to increase storage density.

  • You can now customize job metrics to monitor up to 5 variables from CONVERGE output files.

  • You can now search your organization’s resources by ID, name, description, or storage path. To start a search, click search-button in the upper right corner.

  • Moved billing transactions to the Billing page and removed usage reports. Instead of downloading a usage report, you can now export transactions to a CSV file. You have the option to filter transactions by team, owner, project, type, or date before exporting.

May 26, 2026#

  • Replaced the --download option for horizon update with a new --install option. On Linux and macOS systems, horizon update --install will automatically update the CLI to the latest version. On Windows systems, horizon update --install will download the latest version of the CLI.

  • Updated images to EL9.

May 7, 2026#

  • When using file systems, users now log in to the File Manager with their regular CONVERGE Horizon credentials.

  • The VM-AMD-TURIN-FLEX node type is now available in the Canada Southeast (Toronto) data center.

April 16, 2026#

  • Organization owners can now configure billing limits to help ensure that their organization’s balance remains above zero.

  • Added the Japan East (Tokyo) data center, which offers BM-AMD-TURIN-256, BM-AMD-GENOA-192, BM-INTEL-ICELAKE-36, VM-AMD-TURIN-FLEX, and VM-AMD-GENOA-FLEX nodes for jobs, as well as VM-INTEL-GPU-15 and VM-INTEL-GPU-30 nodes for workstations.

  • You can now set a default data center for file systems, workstations, and spaces in My Account > User Information.

April 2, 2026#

  • Added Google Cloud data centers in the following locations: Netherlands (Eemshaven), Singapore West (Jurong), and US Central (Council Bluffs). These data centers offer bare metal (BM) nodes based on AMD Turin and Intel Sapphire processors. The BM-AMD-TURIN-192 node type supports multi-node jobs running on up to 2,880 cores.

  • You can now upload a case to a file system as a single archive file in .tar.gz, .gz, .zip, .lz4, or .zst format. After the case has been uploaded, right-click on the archive file in the File Manager to extract the files.

  • Added an option to view the web interface in dark mode.

March 23, 2026#

  • Added the South Korea Central (Seoul) data center, which offers BM-AMD-GENOA-192, BM-INTEL-ICELAKE-36, and VM-AMD-GENOA-FLEX nodes for jobs, as well as VM-INTEL-GPU-15 and VM-INTEL-GPU-30 nodes for workstations.

  • You are now required to specify a duration and password when sharing files on a file system.

March 20, 2026#

  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now used for all accounts. If you are not already using MFA with a TOTP authenticator, you will start receiving a one-time code by email every time you log in to your account.

  • CONVERGE Horizon will now stop stuck jobs by default. You can disable this option for individual jobs in Advanced Options > Stop If Stuck. A job is considered stuck if the simulation log has not been updated for over an hour.

  • You can now create a job directly from the file system File Manager by opening the directory containing the input files and clicking Create Job.

  • Workstations are now available in the Italy Northwest (Milan) data center.

  • Email notifications from CONVERGE Horizon have a new and improved format.

March 9, 2026#

  • Added the Italy Northwest (Milan) data center, which offers the following node types: BM-AMD-TURIN-256, BM-AMD-GENOA-192, BM-INTEL-ICELAKE-36, VM-AMD-TURIN-FLEX, and VM-AMD-GENOA-FLEX.

February 27, 2026#

  • BM-AMD-TURIN-256 nodes are now available in the Canada East (Toronto) data center.

  • File systems can now be configured to allow access to the File Manager only from allowed IP addresses. If you have already configured allowed IPs at the organization level, those settings are automatically applied to all file systems.

February 10, 2026#

  • Node types based on AMD Turin processors are now available in India. BM-AMD-TURIN-256 nodes are available in the India West (Mumbai) and India South (Hyderabad) data centers. VM-AMD-TURIN-FLEX nodes are available only in the India West (Mumbai) data center.

  • Organization owners will now receive monthly email notifications summarizing their organization’s billing activity for the past month. If no billing transactions have occurred in the past month, no email will be sent.

  • When filtering jobs and other resources, you can now select multiple options within a given filter. For example, if you are filtering jobs by project on the Jobs page, you can select multiple projects.

  • The Estimated Balance on the Billing page now includes current accrued costs.

  • Projects can no longer be deleted. Any projects that you previously deleted will be restored.

January 19, 2026#

  • File systems and workstations are now created with valid, signed certificates, so you will no longer see browser warnings when connecting to them. If you still notice browser warnings when accessing a file system or workstation, contact horizon@convergecfd.com.

  • File systems and workstations now respond on port 443 instead of port 6400. It is no longer necessary to keep port 6400 open for CONVERGE Horizon.

  • The system log is temporarily disabled for all cloud resources.
