Stop a Job#

To stop a job, go to the Jobs page and click the Stop (stop-button) button in the row for the job you want to stop.

By default, running jobs are stopped by saving a STOP file to the Case Directory (sometimes referred to as “stopping gracefully”). This prompts CONVERGE to create a restart file, finish writing output files, and end the simulation normally. If you don’t need to stop the job gracefully, you can select the Force stop option to end the simulation immediately, without waiting for CONVERGE to finish writing output files. If you are certain that you don’t need any data from the simulation, you can select Discard output data, which automatically applies Force stop because there is no output left to wait for.

If the job has not started running, stopping the job is equivalent to canceling the job and removing it from the queue. Any nodes that have already been allocated for the job will be released.

Attention

In rare situations, CONVERGE might become unresponsive or experience other delays while stopping. In these scenarios, CONVERGE Horizon will wait 15 minutes for CONVERGE to stop. If CONVERGE still has not stopped after 15 minutes, CONVERGE Horizon will force CONVERGE to stop. It is possible for some data to be lost in this process.
