Workstation Options¶
When you create a new workstation, you can specify the hardware configuration, the software that will be installed, and other options as listed below.
Name¶
The name of the workstation. This name will appear on the Workstations page.
Associated Project¶
The project to associate with the workstation.
Application¶
The application to install on the workstation. Choose CONVERGE to install the bundled CONVERGE installation package, which includes CONVERGE Studio, Tecplot for CONVERGE, and ParaView.
A handful of other applications are installed on every workstation by default. Refer to Installed Applications for details.
Application Version¶
The application version to install.
Data Center Location¶
The data center in which the workstation will be created. If you plan to attach jobs or file systems to the workstation, those resources must be located in the same data center as the workstation.
Node Type¶
The type of node that will be provisioned for the workstation. Only virtual machine (VM) node types are available.
Maximum Queue Time¶
The maximum number of hours you are willing to wait for hardware to be allocated. If a node cannot be allocated within this time, the workstation will fail.
Time Limit¶
The maximum number of hours that the workstation will be available before it is automatically deleted. Be sure to allow ample time to complete your work.
If you specify a time limit of zero, the workstation will remain available until it is deleted by a user.
Storage Size¶
The number of gigabytes for the workstation scratch storage, up to a maximum of 10,000 GB. If you plan to attach a file system, 500 GB is sufficient. Otherwise, choose a size appropriate for your expected input and output files. Storage cannot be resized once the workstation is created.
